Coaching experience:

As a manager/coach: have fully employed ‘coaching’ style of management since 1995 and regularly coached staff and contacts through projects and challenges over the subsequent 12 year period of employment. The evident success and demonstrable results of this encouraged me to maintain this style and apply it to particular effect in a role focused on the intensive coaching of people and teams to deliver results in a highly independent environment.

As a coach/mentor: actively participated in company leadership development programme as a coach. Worked directly with programme nominees through an initial assessment of potential and then consistently through a mentoring programme over several months or years beyond that, seeing ‘coachees’ progress to a variety of leadership positions within the organisation.

As in independent coach: have worked since October 2009 as a coach with former staff and colleagues and with clients from several different organisations and sectors. The focus of the coaching has always been to realise the potential for success within coachees. Organisations from which clients have been drawn include BP, Centrica, Danone and the Care Commission. Coaching knowledge and methodology has also been consistently applied in delivering successful outcomes from consultancy work.

Testimonials:

“I would highly recommend Brian as a coach. I found our coaching sessions constructive and appropriately challenging and they enabled me to significantly improve in the areas they were focused on” – TL, Business Development Manager (Oil & Gas industry)

“One of Brian’s strengths as a coach is to ask very good questions. Usually I feel caught a little off guard when I hear them! I think this indicates (1) that they are very relevant to me and (2) that I had not asked nor was planning to ask them of myself in this same manner. I also think the questions he asks are quite strategic in the sense that they lead me/us in relatively few steps to the essence of the matter” – WU, Legal Counsel (Food industry)

"I found the sessions with Brian very useful in taking time out to examine the most effective approaches and techniques to deal with a number of real life business issues. Brian used his experience to identify and then concentrate on the root causes of the issues and also offered tangible options and techniques for dealing with them resulting in improved results and delivery" - RD, Financial Controller (Oil & Gas industry)
