The Offer:

Regulation in the not-for-profit sector has increased substantially in recent years. Many charitable organisations (and Trustees of these) have found compliance with the latest requirements extremely onerous but are in no position to employ knowledgeable staff to address this and fear the cost of professional advice may be prohibitive. My aim is to provide a cost effective service to Charities and their Trustees in order to allow them to focus on the pursuit of the charitable purposes free from concerns of financial management and regulatory compliance. As a sole practicioner I am in a position to offer this service cost effectively.

The Services:

Financial Management and Governance – this service includes the initial establishment of financial operating procedures, supervision of basic transaction recording, the control and management of funds and banking, provision of annual budget and regular management reports, preparation of annual financial statements and delivery of the requirements of OSCR and HMRC for regulatory compliance purposes. The specific service will be tailored to the needs of the client.

Independent Examination – as a holder of a valid Practicing Certificate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), I am licenced for independent examination work for charitable organsiations with annual income/expenditure up to £500,000.

Bribery Act Compliance (New Service) - this is designed to assist organisations in meeting the requirements of the Bribery Act 2010. This includes a review of implications for the organisation, risk assessment, education of Trustees, development and implementation of procedures and training of staff.

Qualifications and Relevant Experience:

Trained Chartered Accountant (KPMG 1978-81), member of ICAS since 1982, holder of ICAS Practicing Certificate since June 2010, member of ICAS charities consultation forum. All financial services work is conducted within ICAS regulations and ethical requirements.
